New Pedestal and Instrument Pod Installation Project

I have always admired and often times envied sailboats which have important instruments mounted right at the binnacle. After one more boat show, I decided to do the same on Bremer Speck, which came equipped with the typical Nauticat pedestal. It was a simple but labor intensive project.
I started out by removing the compass. Then I made a crude template on cardboard. A friend of mine who has all the goodies at his disposal at work, transformed this template into a computer "CAD" drawing.
It was also very convenient, that the company does have a computer guided cutting machine. This enabled us to convert the CAD drawing into the real thing made of 3/16 stainless steel.
I purchased a 1-1/4 inch pedestal guard as well as the instrument housings from Navpod. All else is history. I love my new set-up!

Cheers,
